MAD Twist Rock'n'Roll!

DANCEABLE! SINGABLE! LAUGHABLE!

"Probably one of my favorite comedy albums, this is one of those records that'll make me laugh out loud every time. Part of what's so great about this one is that they went the full nine yards with the music - lots of authentic rock 'n roll style on here, with the unique MAD-style lyrical treatment. Some of the tunes are direct takeoffs of specific songs, and others are entirely original while still matching the sound they're lampooning, like on "Let's Do the Pretzel" and "She Got a Nose Job." The material on this LP was actually written and produced independently by Norm Blagman and Sam Bobrick, who then received an enthusiastic response when they showed it to MAD. MAD subsequently helped them get this released on Bigtop in 1962, followed by a similar LP in 63 called "Fink Along With MAD." There are a handful of other recordings that have been released over the years either as MAD magazine productions, or at least with the endorsement of the publisher. Rhino did a CD reissue collecting MAD comedy material, which is nice but also sorta disappointing because it's so short (barely scratching the surface with just a lousy 12 tracks, only one of which comes from "Mad Twists")."

Elastik Band - The 45 rpm Series

Altough Elastik Band has a psych beat form of 60s, they performed a song called "Spazz" in their singles. While i was looking for reviews on internet about this great song i fall with a comment on wikipedia which was saying "undeniably tasteless garage-rock single" about this ducky song.
If you wanna read more about Elastik band and their Spazz, check this one

Oh-Lala!

Shakin' Fit - Candy Records

It is the time to shake your hips to some sick soul sound folks!

"1960s soul music wasn't just Motown, earnest gospel-filled ballads, and dancefloor rabble-rousers. There were also quite a few soul performers who treated the music as fun, first and foremost, taking a somewhat looser and goofier approach than the stars that had long careers. This 29-track CD is a good document of soul music as pure fun, by singers who never had a hit (Don & Dewey are the only marginally recognizable names here), and who owed stronger debts to the honking R&B music of the '50s than most other soul performers. Some of these are downright funny novelties (the Five Du-Tones' "The Chicken Astronaut," Emanual Laskey's "Welfare Cheese"); a great deal of these are novelty-tinged dance tunes that verge on silly, in the best sense of the word ("The Frog," "Skin the Cat," "Sticky Pig Feet," "The Cow," "The Chicken Scratch"). This could have done with some decent liner notes (there are virtually none), but it's a good deal for soul fans looking for some totally overlooked and fun-filled rarities."
